Tribes 3v3 best loadouts

In Tribes 3v3 every weapon, every stack of ammo and your armor come out of one 12-point budget. A good loadout is less about the strongest gun and more about what fits. Here are the costs that have actually been shown on screen, and builds that use them.

How the 12-point loadout works

  1. Open the loadout screen with B on PC (or the Loadout button at the bottom left).
  2. Click an equipped item to remove it; its points go back into your budget.
  3. Add unlocked gear until the counter hits 12. If an item will not go in, you are over the cap.
  4. You can save up to 5 loadouts and switch between them. Presets named "All Rounder", "Archer" and "Brawler" are reported.

Bows and crossbows need ammo bought separately. If you spend zero points on arrows, the bow cannot fire.

Builds that fit 12 points

These are the setups community guides recommend, with the math worked out using the costs above. Where a cost is unconfirmed, we show the range.

1. Balanced (best for beginners)

Crossbow (3-4) + 12 arrows (1) + Hammer (3) = 7-8 points, leaving 4-5 for armor and a utility item.

Why: the Crossbow trades at range, and the Hammer's knockback punishes anyone who rushes you. If you have not unlocked the Crossbow, a Wood Bow fills the same role.

2. Close-range breacher

Blunderbuss (4-5) + Hammer (3) = 7-8 points, leaving 4-5 for Iron Armor or utility.

Why: the Blunderbuss hits very hard up close but falls off sharply with distance, so pair it with a melee weapon and play corners.

3. Cheap melee + sling

Iron Sword (3) + Diamond Dagger (2) + Sling (1) = 6 points, leaving 6 for Diamond Armor (6) = exactly 12.

Why: this is the one full build where every cost has been shown on screen (the walkthrough does not show whether the sling needs separate ammo). It trades range for armor; good for learning fights, weak against good archers.

4. Marksman

Musket + Hammer (3) + leather armor, with the rest on Musket ammo.

The Musket's point cost is not published, so check the counter. Guides suggest dropping to leather armor to afford enough bullets.

FAQ

How many loadout points do you get in Tribes 3v3?

12. Weapons, ammo and armor all draw from one shared 12-point budget, as shown in an October 15, 2026 walkthrough. Removing an item refunds its points.

How much does Diamond Armor cost in Tribes 3v3?

6 points, half of the 12-point budget. That is why most beginner builds skip it.

How many arrows do you get per point?

12 normal arrows per point, up to 36 arrows (3 points). Fire Arrows are reported at 2 points for 6.

What is the best beginner loadout in Tribes 3v3?

Community guides agree on a ranged weapon plus a melee backup: Crossbow or Wood Bow with 12 arrows, a Hammer, and light armor with whatever points remain.
